Extra Trash icons on Deskop

I am running OS 10.4.10 on a 17" MackBook Pro. Recently, I upgraded Cocktail to version 2.8.2 and suddenly I have extra trash icons on my desktop! Does anyone know how I can get rid of theextra icons as Cocktail doesn't give me a clue.

Maybe the Cocktail upgrade has you seeing double... double...  wink.gif wink.gif

No sign of anyone else having this issue when I searched - perhaps you should contact the developer? Assume that you've tried all the usual maintenance stuff - repair permissions, delete caches, restart, etc.?

I once ran Cocktail on my 10.3.9 system about a year and a half ago. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I do remember some weird desktop/finder things. I fscked and repaired permissions, and everything was back to normal. I haven't used it since.

Double vision, memory loss... I'd stay away from that Cocktail, no matter what time of day!

I'm assuming you meant version 3.8.2. just got the offer to upgrade my own version. Decided to decline until you get your problem fixed! wink.gif

One suggestion would be to delete the DS Store files on that drive. Cocktail can do that for you, Files->DS Store tab ( drag the icon of your drive into the little 'drop zone').

I don't even have a Trash Can icon on my Desktop. If I remember correctly, that was the reason I chose to use a third-party app to put one there (themed ad as I want, of course. I use a kitchen trash can that has a lid that pops up when there is 'trash' in the can). Maybe there is a setting somewhere that controls that? dntknw.gif

Oh, Oh,..... Xabd....

Reminded me that I had an "Oscar the Grouch" trash can icon, way back when.  OS 6 or 7 ?!?!...  He'd pop out of the top when you draged something over the can...

...he'd pop out and sing a snippet of "I love trash."

It turned out to be a really dangerous icon to have around with small children, who found it very amusing!!! tongue.gif

(My eldest, now almost 16, figured out how to turn on our Mac IIsi at the age of 10 months - as soon as he was able to climb up onto the chair in the office and in the interests of preserving a working computer, Oscar had to go...)
