Recommended Reading, if you will

I met for the first time yesterday, a young executive (former investment banker) who's a new "Switcher". He would benefit from a brief, comprehensive set of "principles" to get up and running quickly (now w/Tiger). I recall that O'Reilly was publishing a small (4x6x1 approx) volume that seemed useful, which I duly presented to a couple of people 2 years ago or so, in similar circumstances.

This gentleman is about as far away from "Dummy" status  as you can imagine. Anyone out there have a recommendation for some reading?
