I received a file that has a ".mdb".

i havent heard of anything yet.
best thing, if you can, is open it on a PC.

I kind of hope that M$ will come out with Access for mac sometime soon...

If you have Windows installed under Parallels, VMWare or BootCamp, you can try this viewer:

Even if you have Filemaker Pro, the data still has to be exported in order to be readable. (I've also heard of people using Excel on exported data):

Obviously, if this is a complex database, any export options may make a mess of things.

I routinely use data from an Access database but I have it open in Access and cut and paste what I want into Excel. Not a good solution for large databases!

I seriously doubt that Bento would be capable of reading/using Access files since FileMaker Pro has never been able to. You might check the <Apple Forums> for a Bento group. Or maybe at one of these <FileMaker> Newsgroups or MailLists. Then, there are <FileMaker User Groups> in various parts of the country. There's probably not much activity around yet as it is still a beta product. Just remember, it requires Leopard and it is not a FileMaker Pro ( nor AW ) replacement.

The only thing that I've been able to dig up is Mac ODBC. To use this, you will off course need to have a copy of Filemaker Pro. It does not work with Bento, and given the nature of Bento I doubt that it ever will.

Failing that if you know anyone who uses Windows you could ask them to try
1) Export the Access database to an Excel spreadsheet
or
2) If they don't have MS Office use Open Office. Get them to use OO to export it into a spreadsheet and then open that on your Mac using Excel.

None of these are particularly simple or quick solutions but I can't think of anything else
