Well guys, IF I was looking for a new steel string acoustic, and I had 10 yrs. to wait, although both Taylor's and Froggy Bottoms are nice, I'd probably look at a guitar by Wayne Henderson (check out the book, "Clapton's Guitar; watching Wayne Henderson build the perfect instrument" by Allen St. John. I had the joy of meeting Wayne, a quiet, funny gentlemen from West Va., that teaches at various seminars around the nation, plays concerts, and runs his own music festival at home, where, each year, he awards one of his guitars to the winner of a red hot competition. Clapton played one of his guitars at a recording session in NY, and offered $100,000 to the studio, who would not part with it. Long story short, he sent one of his roadies to talk to Wayne, who, since he was into bluegrass had only recently (hard as that is to believe) become aware of who Eric was, told him that he'd be happy to put him on the waiting list. The roadie asked how much it would cost to move him to the head of the list, to which Wayne replied, "Not possible; that wouldn't be fair to the people already waiting!" Amazing! So, Eric got in line. . . The book is a quick read, and the story of an amazing craftsman. BTW, at Wintergrass (trade show/music show) last year, while walking around with Wayne, one of the high end custom guitar builders (EVERYBODY seemed to know him!) asked him to try out one of his guitars, and I literally sat at the guy's feet, with my head about 2' from the soundhole (because the room was exceedingly noisy!), and for about 40 minutes, was absolutely blown away by the guy's ability! I'd almost give my left leg to be able to play like that! Fast, clean, espressive. . . He has it all! Has out 2 or 3 albums, and some of the owners of his guitars are: Eric Clapton, Doc Watson, Gillian Welch, Peter Rowan. Go ahead and google him, or:
