Anyone savvy on jpegs?
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:42:41 PM »
I don't know if there is any connection to the fact that I just upgradewd. to 10.5.2, but all of a sudden, I can not get jpegs to work.  De wallbash.gif wallbash.gif wallbash.gif wallbash.gif    spite the jpeg at the end of each file that it is not a jpeg, and I should convert it - especially on Ebay. I finally used Graphic converter, and it worked, but I don't understand where this problem came from. Same thing happens when I try to import a jpeg into Photoshop - I get a message that it is unrecognizable. HELP!!!Sorry, screwed that up!  Bottom line is that neither Ebay nor Photoshop is accepting my jpegs as valid.  Graphic converter is cpnverting them to acceptable, but this should not be happening. This is an example of the message I get across the board.  This one is from Preview:Couldn’t open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize.

Sometimes a simple reboot might work.

Run Permissions in Disk Utility.

Try changing one you can't open from .jpeg to .jpg and see it that makes any difference.

Check via Get Info that the file in question is set so you or the system has read/write privileges.

Also in Get Info window you can set files of a particular type to open with a particular application. If Graphic Converter is the only thing that works you may have to do batch conversions.
