A couple of IMacs, an iPad, a bunch of iPhones...two of which don’t live here, but I still pay for. Oh yeah, wife, daughters, and yes—a grandson!

Well, that went fine!
My "repair permissions" after the update did nothing special, and I ran disk utilities as a matter of habit.
Apart from the PHP issue raised by Al and Karl above, I've seen nothing of great note on the net. MacNN's   report  is among the most detailed I've spotted on what seems to be a routine update, and one fellow there, Jamie Rishaw, has even gone to the trouble of listing  everything  installed!
What I found interesting about that list is the sheer volume of application support stuff that now goes into these 40 MB+ packages, for hardware you're never likely to have or to want!
Just in case, you might say.
Quite apart from the various unused languages it's now easy to dispose of should you feel so inclined, it gets me wondering just how many MBs of stuff are tucked away into today's OS X system folder that the average user will never need...
