Are you ready for Easter!

I thought that this picture of the Easter bunnies new helper was pretty neat:

Later: I think I remember tulips smelling fairly nice when I was a kid; but most I've smelled lately don't have much of a smell at all!  Is this me (roses and such still smell okay) or is it some kind of breeding for color thing causing the smell to vanish?

Ok, I'll hold my tongue. Just wanted to add my sig to a thread that mentions bunnies.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Well .... I guess I could share this link ... she is, after all, another Easter bunny helper. :whistles:

PS: Gunug, I don't remember tulips having a fragrance, but my memory could be faulty.

I think with two lips, taste would be more discernable than smell. yum.gif

Tulips have always had a faint scent, but nothing particularly special. I've read that a lot of fragrance has been bred out of modern rose hybrids. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? I remember my grandmother's rose garden as being extremely fragrant. Now, I stick my nose in the bunches of roses at the supermarket and come up empty.

Most tulips don't smell, John. A few do - but maybe you're getting them confused with some of the other spring bulbs that do have a fragrance, like hyacinths and some daffodils?

And dboh, you're right - most long-stem roses have little scent:

http://www.backyardgarden.info/longstemroses.php

The more fragrant roses in my experience tend to be ones that you'd never find in a flower shop; they may be hybrid teas, but have much shorter, often branched stems and have been bred for fragrance and flowers, and are intended for use in the garden, though can certainly be used in bouquets in the house! They're much more fragile than the long-stemmed variety, which is why you won't find them in most florist shops.

Wild roses also smell terrific. smile.gif
