Security Update, Safari, etc.

A new Security update for Tiger is now available via Software Update, as well as Safari 3.1

They are also available as stand-alone at Apple Updates

Note: Edited to delete two updates that were apparently not included in the Combo Updater to 10.4.11 I used to update a fresh Tiger install on my DA G4. These did not appear when I ran Software Update on my iBook. rolleyes.gif

Not sure which updates you're referring to as the ones I've read about are for both Leopard and Tiger. As per usual, there have been many reports of problems with both. The Security Update 2008-02 v1.1 was supposed to correct problems caused by the original 2008-2 but apparently caused further damage. wallbash.gif

Likewise, there are instructions available for how to downgrade to Safari 3.0.4 (from 3.1) using Pacifist which Apple makes available at their site.

As with most updates, nothing may happen or all kinds of stuff will happen. Who wants to be the first one to discover the later?! nono.gif laugh.gif

Geez, don't shoot the messenger! tomato.gif Didn't want to spread dis-information about a Leopard update, not in my perview as of yet... next time maybe I'll read the fine print inspect.gif

Just fillin' in for Bil207, he's usually right on top of these, haven't seen him around much lately!

I'm not usually on the forefront of these things, but Security Updates are something I usually pay attention to.

Just in case anyone is confused - those security updates came out last week. The numbering is incredibly confusing. There are no new security updates this week...so far!

I don't recall either of them showing up, but I did a fair bit of updating in and around that time and may have just installed them along with other things. They certainly don't show up now - and I don't have any issues AFAIK.

I never did have those problems with QT and iTunes, so, I hope these updates don't bring me something that I'd rather avoid.   Paranoid.gif

"Don't shoot the messenger!" rofl.gif I didn't even have my saber drawn! rant.gif Just trying to make sure we know what we're mentioning and Apple is not being very helpful there, anyway. I'm glad to let you cut yourself on the bleeding edge, also! smile.gif Just don't drip on the keyboard when you tell us what happens with all the new updates! We all appreciate your falling on your sword for us! That's about my limit of knife/saber/cutting/sword metaphors for today... smile.gif tease.gif

I have QT updated to 7.4.5 and no probs.

For iTunes I'm still at 7.6 (29) and waiting to hear the problems are sol-ved before I go to 7.6.x.
