PeeCee Disk Burning program

So, the gold standard for Mac CD/DVD Burning software seems to be Toast...

Any recommendations on the PC side from anyone? Is Roxio a similar gold standard for Windows?

Easy Media Creator (Roxio) certainly seems to get a lot of attention, but people don't seem to actually LIKE it! (55 out of 123 reviewers gave it ONE star??) ...Nero seems to work pretty well - I got it with various burners over the years. But buying it isn't cheap.

See: http://cd-burning-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

Might want to try one of the freebies, considering how bad a lot of the user reviews for the commercial software are.

http://www.deepburner.com/

Both get good reviews from users.

I'll go along with Paddy and suggest having a look at some of the alternatives. Another place to look for them is TheFreeCountry. At one time I used and liked Nero but recent releases have become ever more bloated. We briefly used Roxio at my last job but TBH it was not as good as the Mac version.

You can burn data disks and such with XP (don't know from Vista or want to know).  Nero comes with a bunch of burners (usually the limited version called Burning ROM), as does the the cheap Roxio product.  I'm using Starburn in a full network version that was free yesterday (The Give Away of the Day website only allows you free download and install of that product for 24 hours) but I think that I liked ImgBurn for a lot of things and it is free to download and use:

We have used it in a training lab for authoring VCD's and DVD's for a year or more and it's worked pretty well there!  I uninstalled it to install Starburn but I still have the binary to reinstall!

i have used Roxio Easy Media Creator as well as Sonic RecordNow! and i like RecordNow over Roxio.

Sonic RecordNow also seems to be what most manufacturers are pre-installing on their machines today too... over Roxio software.
