Yes, we shop at Hannafords in the summer in NH and Maine.

But I dont use our credit card at grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, department stores, or any place that I think that this could happen. I also log on to our accounts frequently to look for bogus charges, and found one last month.  So I applied for a new card, new #, which they sent to us immediatly.  You can place 'alerts' on many things on your login page, like amount of charges, locations, and so forth.

We think that this charge was just a mistake, but how it happened we dont know, it was just one query from Carfax company.  Which we have used in the past.  So to be safe, we got a new one.

The less you use your card for small purchases, the less chance you take having the card compromised.  Right here in the next town from us, a kid pumping gas, had a hand scanner and got a lot of card info and ran up a lot of bogus charges. They caught him, but most of the time the perp is not caught.

So use cash for small stuff at least while cash is still 'legal'.
