Wintel computer for games
« on: May 14, 2008, 04:16:59 PM »
Hi,

A Mac site is an unlikely place to seek advice for a good Wintel desktop machine for playing games, but a Swiss friend asked me for advice and I have no idea how to respond.

It's just that I have received such wonderful help from the folks here and I trust what people here say,

Anyone able to offer help?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

eric j

What sort of games? Different games have different requirements. For some games, the video card is very important; and therefore he doesn't want anything with "integrated graphics" - ie: a low end PC. Generally, higher-end gaming rigs are pretty expensive if you buy one pre-assembled. Alienware is a big name in the gaming end of things.

Of course, he could get a Mac Pro and install Bootcamp and XP. wink.gif

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help. Would have replied earlier but had difficulty in getting Techsurvivors' site to respond yesterday.

The friend has now given me a minimum specification, based on information from one of the games she plays. From this it's apparent that her needs are modest. It should be easy to find a suitable computer in Basel, where we both live.

Thanks again
