Why Macs aren't right for business
« on: June 01, 2008, 03:39:40 AM »
OK, only read this if you want to shake your head at the total ignorance of this "guru".  no2.gif  wallbash.gif

After you read the article be sure to take in some of the comments from all over the world.
Seems as though the author is actually a writer for hire. I doubt CNN will use him again.

Author's website: note the bit about being for hire to write or adapt articles.

Kris, that article, and the accompanying comments, were priceless!

I get it!! This “guru” must write for The Onion right?

And Fortune…come on. Did you pay for the article or did he offer it for free?

Just to clarify this: Jonathan is our regular tech columnist (you can read his archive at http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fsb/blum/index.html), and none of his articles for us are based on any previously existing material for other outlets such as his Blumsday.com blog. All of the articles we run on CNNMoney.com/smallbusiness and in Fortune Small Business are works we pay for, written by experienced freelance writers whom we trust.

Fortune Small Business Web editor

Trust? Trust to do what, exactly? I had no idea Fortune Small Business was a comedy magazine...

I'm not sure what he's referring to when he speaks of "screen quadrants." Spaces? Different users? dntknw.gif
As far USB outlets, I think you can get a powered USB hub for much less than 50 bucks. And my much faster FireWire external includes two extra USB ports, anyway. wallbash.gif

And even I could spot a grammatical error! Do "editors" do anything any more?

At least he said something positive about Vista, don't hear that often from someone other than Microsoft! laugh.gif

Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

What a dope!

I think I might have to e-mail Andrew Serwer (Fortune's managing editor) about this one... Groaner.gif

Paddy, I've gotten regular e-mails from Fortune for years from a column they used to call "The Street" or something like that, now it's "Fortune: Fast Forward" or "Fortune: Captain's Blog"... Serwer has a pretty vicious sense of humor at times, kinda like a "comedy act"... But I doubt he'd find this guy's article very funny!

And off I go to see if I can find my own "ethernet enablement unit" rofl.gif I just know it's got to be around here... somewhere... Devilish2.gif

You may also need an ADB connector for that 'enabler'. OTOH, it may be hiding back there with the power switch! laugh.gif I'll bet this guy would like to have all the wiring up front, too. And the power receptacle too, of course! Who want to crawl under the desk to find that thing?! Wonder if he keeps a crank in his trunk, just in case his battery dies and the starter won't turn over! wallbash.gif rolleyes.gif
