Bluetooth advice solicited
« on: August 06, 2008, 10:30:45 PM »
Have zero experience w/ this technology to date.

Here's the background:

Since getting my first iPod maybe five months ago, I have taken to wearing headphones most of the time I am awake.  I use Bose earbuds, which are comfortable enough to wear this intensively and high-fidelity enough to satisfy my demanding requirements/taste.

Since my Mac is bluetooth equipped, can I add some device that will receive the BT signal from the Mac and send it wirelessly to my belt or pocket where I can then connect it to my ultra-comfortable and great-sounding 'fones'?  Does BT do stereo?  What's the fidelity like?  Am I tripping?

Having done some online research, I've seen many BT products, but would prefer to avoid the process of buying this'n'that endlessly in search of the comfort and fidelity I've already found.

TIA,

How long can you stand on one leg with your right hand on your left ear and your left index finger touching the tip of your nose? multitask.gif
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.

Sorry Kenny, I guess no one here has much personal experience with Bluetooth.  I sure don't.   no2.gif

Although this smilie may appear to show some usage.... toothgrin.gif

well maybe iCan add a bit of wood to the fire.

you can buy bluetooth stereo headsets but i wouldn't recommend them. They're 2.4 GHZ only and slow.
You really only have about 20 feet of usability, though bluetooth has a 30 foot range they can't keep the stream going in stereo beyond 20ish. Airtunes is the answer but I can't say if your headphones will find an adapter to fit?
