My Yahoo webmail acct has become, over the years, almost entirely a SPAM-bucket, but I still check it at least once each day or three, b/c every once in a while a legit msg comes through.  

But in the last week or so, the msg volume has slowed to a trickle.

Anybunny else see this?  Anybunny know why?

Yes, I'm seeing that on a Yahoo account as well. I'd say for the last several months there has been a reduced amount of spam. But I can't tell you why.

I was going to start another Yahoo related thread, but I'll just add this to the mix:

I've had a few links that have been results of a Yahoo search go bonkers on me. Today, clicking on one of the search results produced and authentic looking Safari error message window. It said something about the computer being infected with a virus. In addition, the main browser window turned into the familiar looking full color warning page about a virus needing to be dealt with.

I didn't have a cancel button to click, so I just quit. When I reopened Safari and typed in the same URL that the link was supposed to send me to, it behaved itself.

Seems like someone has figured out a way to corrupt search results so that they can send you to this ominous virus warning page and try to get you to bite on the "proceed" option you're presented with. I'm sure the folks at Yahoo are none to happy about this. dry.gif

One of the five biggest spammers in the business just committed suicide recently. That might have something to do with it.

Don't know about a 'general reduction' in spam.... maybe they're just 'sharing the wealth' as my Yahoo account has been getting 3-400 pieces a day for the last couple of weeks!!!  Just hit the 'empty' button and go on...

I guess 5 pieces of certifiable SPAM in a 24 hour period is quite a reduction.  Not sure what they're doing different but it seems to be something since they started putting more advertising on the mail page.  Maybe they switched to a new SPAM filter then!  Hope it stays this way!  That link isn't working for me at home but I'm a member at work and get the webpage automatically when I startup there!  I guess maybe I'll stop showing links to them if the site doesn't work for people; no one complained!

Another related phenomenon: automated tagging

This might have happened to me, but I forget which web page it was from. However, suddenly there were things on my screen that were quite unexpected and shocking. They need to get this refined ASAP!
