I am very satisfied with MacHighway, got both my sites there, though Ive got some older stuff on a school server, Comcast, Earthlink, and some stuff like that.  So I dont need anything beyond MacHighway, just fooling around to see what I could do after reading that article in Mac|Life magazine.
Yes, the commercial hosts certainly are very cheap, a great value.

Still wondering why my new version of iPhoto wont play the slide shows at full screen like the old ones do. That is unless you use the "shatter" mode.

Having a blank password for an administrator's access privileges has NOTHING to do ordinary administrator's privilegs for using any of the application's listed.

Passwords are your friend. There's no excuse for not using them since there are so many good password manages available. (<1Password> is the best I've found/used for the web. I'll bet they'll even give you a discount, if you just ask nicely!) Even if you leave your Mac wide open with a blank 'password', at least use a password manager to keep the rest of the ones that will protect your personal data. That means you'll need to remember one password instead of two or three (for your bank/financial sites). How many fewer than one can you expect? How many phone numbers do you have memorized? How many addresses? How many names?

I doubt that you memorize all your email addresses, why not have one password? And then let your computer keep up with all the rest! That's what it's great at! Use your brain for the imaginative and subjective things!  doh.gif dntknw.gif rolleyes.gif

OTOH, if you like to leave credit cards, bank account numbers/PINs, Social Security numbers all over town, be my guest. wallbash.gif And there's no need trying to remember using your seat belt, either, it's hard enough to remember how to start the car and drive it, after all. laughhard.gif

Well, not really.  Its the important passwords that I do have, the ones for bank, credit cards and that type of stuff. They are all in Keychain.  And the ones like my Yahoo, classroom, photostamps, Amazon, and about 40 others, are either in Keychain, and also in a little notebook that is hidden in the house. It looks like a recipe book.
Its just that I get annoyed by passwords, but I sure do realize the importance of them.

Im looking at 1Password now, that sure looks like something I need.
Reading their forum, looks like a very easy and valuable thing, I really should buy it.  Will it work on 2 Macs, as this old one is the one I do all the banking on, and my new Mac gets all the things like Adobe and my classwork.

The way Ive got a lot of them set now so that with one click, the password is filled in for my non-bank and really important ones.
But this software would make things a lot quicker and easier, and more secure too,,,,,,
Thinking seriously of getting this, thank you for bringing it to my attention!

Passwords are just one of its uses. It can insert them, of course, but it can also insert your ID/Name?etc. that usually requires something. It can also be used to fill in your name/address/phone number/date of birth/social security #/etc. into forms. I have the auto-fill function of Mail/FF turned OFF, since it is not as secure, especially if someone is sitting at your computer as happened to Francis. It can also store your software registration info. smile.gif Of course, it mainly was designed for use in a browser, but you can just open the app and easily grab the info for any other app you might have that needs special info/passwords. Naturally, you'd put all the on-line banking info in there, also. wink.gif

Because 1Password is so secure, I store all kinds of info in it. Even things it can't fill in. That way I don't have to remember them. And yes, I have a hard copy stored offsite. wink.gif
