iMovie Updates
« on: May 18, 2003, 09:49:34 AM »
I'm really trying to keep this iBook updated (even though it feels ignored) I have dowloaded the iMovie 3.0.2 update (I have 2.1.2 now) and I am getting a message the "You cannot install this software on this disk. This update did not find an application to update."  wallbash.gif Is there an update between that I have missed? I've tried looking on the Apple site and it keeps coming back to the 3.0.2......thanks for any clues....trish

What OS are you using?  If I am not mistaken, you cannot update iMovie beyond version 2.xx if you are using OS 9.  I think that iMovie 3 requires Jaguar.

I'll be installing 3.0.2. in a second [didn't even know there was an update].
Just downloaded it. We'll see what happens.

SnowWitch,
I got the same message as you did.
Turns out I had a folder created in the applications where I put the iMovie and plugins in.
I pulled the iMovie out of that created folder (but still left it in the applications) and ran the update again.

Updated just fine.

Also in the update 'read me' it said the update will update 3.0 and 3.0.1 only.

Also *two* <gr> If you're talking about OS 9xx, think Steve is correct.

Also *three* <gr> It says you need QT 6.1. or higher.

Also *four* ---- /this is the end\ smile.gif

Not sure because I already updated to version 3.0.2, but, this KBase doc says that you can download the full version of iMovies 3.0.2 there.

That's one of the annoying "features" of OS X.
The internal software update can't update files that are not located in the applications folder.

I think it would be much better and more comfortable if it was able to locate the app automatically (like you can move iTunes files while playback).

I agree Spartacus.

More than once I've found an updater can't find this or that just because you've either moved it or as stated above stuck them in a folder.

SnowWitch. Didn't see your other post till now.
It's either a cashe thing with me or new glasses time. biggrin.gif

I finally got this update installed. I noticed when checking the file size that I had downloaded it wasn't as large a file as it should have been. So I started the download again and went to bed.....got up about 3:00 a.m. and it was done....barely being able to open my eyes, I installed it. Do I dare check it now?????   unsure.gif  Sure wish I had a cable connection....trish
