Oops.... iTunes info dilemma. Help!
« on: January 23, 2009, 02:53:03 PM »
Dangers of EyeTV - you don't  concentrate as you should. oops.gif

I've got a collection of radio shows I've put into iTunes and thought it would be good to have a pic of the presenter as 'album artwork'. Highlighted all the shows, hit get info and pulled pic in. Sadly, on sort of autopilot I also "updated" the album section with the name of the presenter and hit OK. Then watched as it replaced all the programme details I'd kept with the name of the presenter.

A bit of exploring found "iTunes Music Library.xml". It opened in TextEdit and I found it still had the details but along with every other bit of text. I've saved it as TextEdit doc, since I assume the xml will be updated.

So - does anyone know an easy way of restoring these details into iTunes info? I don't REALLY want to have to copy and paste each one!

Wondering if you have a current backup iTunes database from before the changes? I know I never have a current one when I need it. biggrin.gif

Having done just what you did, I'll be interested to see if this can be easily fixed -- because the copy/paste got really old really quick.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but I think you'll have to do that.

When you change any info for file in iTunes it actually writes the info to that file (the ID3 tag). Changing the xml won't do anything.

Oh well..... sad.gif
