It's the same controversy that has been with us since malware became widespread some years ago.  Since there is no real way to determine which explanation is more likely, it is simply one person's opinion versus another's.

The security-by-obscurity argument doesn't hold much water for me. C'mon - REALLY well known OS and for the past EIGHT years, nobody has managed a virus in the wild? The best they can do is malware that requires the user to do something (stupid)? You can't make me believe that some really clever people haven't been trying. And trying. If it was as easy as the Windows fanboys all claim somebody would have done it - if only for the notoriety of being the first to do it. And that's my opinion.
