There is a page with a number of FAQs at the U.S. Copyright Office and one of them deals with what copyright protections you've got if you
see Elvis down at the QuikTrip:

Copyright law does not protect sightings. However, copyright law will protect your photo (or other depiction) of your sighting of Elvis. File your claim to copyright online by means of the electronic Copyright Office (eCO). Pay the fee online and attach a copy of your photo. Or, go to the Copyright Office website, fill in Form CO, print it, and mail it together with your photo and fee. For more information on registration a copyright, see SL-35. No one can lawfully use your photo of your sighting, although someone else may file his own photo of his sighting. Copyright law protects the original photograph, not the subject of the photograph.

Thanks so much! clap.gif I guess I can start showing these things to some publishers and begin negotiating the fees! I've been a bit leery of doing that without some good legal standing on my sanitystanding! tease.gif

If you must, I'll probably not be back to this thread hereafter, anyway. Groaner.gif Only thing I know about him is that he lived in Memphis and one can tour his last house and grounds should one dare to enter that part of the City. I was kind of saving hat trip as I didn't want to take my time getting to know the area. However, I guess 35 years is a little too long to have waited... laughhard.gif Frankly, I'd rather visit the < Zoo>.
