Jalbum "Publish" problems
« on: March 26, 2009, 12:06:40 PM »
There are some wonderful slide shows and superb photography on jalbum.net.
So I thought I would like to join and put a couple up.
I followed all instructions and got my albums ready, and when I went to publish, I got this, see screenshot
So followed some other instructions and changed the port to 22 from 21. And still cant publish.
But I can put the album on my own site and then link to it with jalbum.

Troubleshooting suggestions for those of us having this problem,
1. Firewall, no
2. Change port from 21 to 22, didnt work
3. Upload to our own sites first, yes this works but defeats the purpose of having it on their server.
4. Trying Cyberduck or Transmit to upload to theirs, didnt work, gave us the message "connection refused"

So we are awaiting more troubleshooting.
There is a System Console on the jalbum software which would tell me what is wrong, if only I could translate it.
Its odd, as several people are having the same problem, and it sure would be nice to fix it.
Jalbum is really a nice site and would be a lot of fun.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Jane

It could be your ISP blocking.  But it also could be the server which is out of your hands.

Either restart WebLogic Server, or contact the Web service host and ensure that the Web service is reachable.

That link assumed it was a mail problem, this is a publish problem using port 22. And none of us have had any problem uploading to anything other than Jalbum.
But I think you have hit it correctly, as most of the people who have had the problem are Comcast customers.
Nobody on their forum have found any solution, so I uploaded the exact album to my own site, then somehow linked it to Jalbum. Jalbum did that part, and it was very easy.
That seems the only way to get our albums onto Jalbum, and they work correctly, all their eyecandy is there, the slide shows are great.
I am hoping that someone on their forum figures it out, I have offered all my System Console from Jalbum, showing all the many many tries to connect and the why that it couldnt connect. Sadly, I dont know what they all mean.
It will be interesting to see what is actually going on, and if I ever find out, I will post it here, as I think some of us TSers do use Jalbum.
I might give Comcast a call, though getting a rep who would be able to understand this, would be rather remote.
Thanks,
Jane
