Spent some time on that site Kelly you posted lastnight.
I knew about those links (and have been there before) which Mr.E posted also.

~~~~ before you all ask,yeah I'm thinking about the dual boot machines.
Came close to ordering one twice now ... it's called cold-feet. ~~~~
Gary S.
As you know (I'm sure) the difference between the $1,999 and the $2,499 duals is 1) 2mb L3 cashe 2) 512 ram stick 3) dual bootable 5) larger hard-drive.
Is that worth the extra $500?
2mb L3 = well yes.
larger ram stick = Nope! big deal. 512 ram sticks go for what? Around $120 ((TOPS))!
Dual bootable = You bet! Then again ... who knows ... maybe all the third party guys will get it together where one doesn't need OS 9 soon.Although don't EVEN hold your breath on that one.!. I really can't blame Apple for moving forward. There's money out there in them woods! If the third party guys get left behind,well their piece of that there woods-money IS still there for the picken. If they don't grab it .. someone will.
Yeah think Apples counting on that? You bet.
Larger hard-drive = Nope!
Worth the extra $500? That's a call only you can make.
Kelly is right on about the dual 867s and the 933s!
My 933 is SOOOooooooo quite! Two drives. I've got the volume turned off on the Philly/NJ game.The room is dead silent. Can't EVEN hear the 'puter spinning away.
Hey, wait a minute - Sarah (SarahLee as she is known here) has two dual 867's and the first thing she complained about (to me) was the noise. The dual 867's are the mirror-door models, AKA the "Windtunnel Macs" - the Quicksilver G4's are a different (earlier model), and apparently quieter. There was no QS dual 867, just a dual 800 and a dual 1GHz. To keep the models straight, see:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powe...c_g4/index.html
In nosing around eBay, I came across something that smells like a scam    of the first order:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=14912
I then went to their web site, and from there, did a "whois" check on them...that web site/domain has only existed since February 9...2003.
Then did a Google search and found this - read it all - down to the end:
http://www.powerpage.org/story.lasso?newsID=10551
BTW - Apple Developer prices are 10-20% off retail, not half of retail.
I've contacted eBay. This sort of thing, despite all the legal manouevering the seller is attempting, is what gives eBay a bad name. They should be very concerned.
Be careful out there...
BTW - I'm waiting to upgrade until later this year/early next year - curious to see what happens with the PPC 9700 chip. Thinking about a Sonnet upgrade card in the meantime, though the jury is still out on that one.
I also wouldn't get hung up on the OS 9 booting capability - once you've used X for any length of time on a new machine, you'll never want to go back. Software upgrades are not cheap, I'll grant you that, but worth it in the long run.
I never said Quicksilver Dual 867s.
There ain't any such animal.
Quicksilver has the Dual 800s. I think Harv has one.
Bill. Maybe Gary would be interested in your machine.
Click to enlarge
The Apple Power Macintosh G4/1.0 DP MDD, dubbed the "Mirrored Drive Doors" or "Wind Tunnel" model(s) and based on the architecture used by the Xserve, features dual 1.0 GHz PowerPC 7455 (G4) processors, both with AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing units, 256k level 2 on-chip caches and 1 MB level 3 backside caches. In addition, this model ships with 256 MB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM, an 80.0 GB (7200 RPM) Ultra ATA/100 hard drive, a SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW), an ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (AGP 4X) video card with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM, and a digital audio sound system with a highly-efficient Tripath "Class T" amplifier. The case is similar to earlier Power Macintosh G4 models, and has the same fold down door on the side that makes upgrading very easy, but also sports decorative indentions on the front reminiscent of the "Ventiports" on a 1949 Buick Roadmaster and two "mirrored finish" external drive bays. This model ships with the Apple "Pro" keyboard and optical mouse*Apple Refurbished unit, with 1 year Apple warranty
Thanks for the link to EveryMac Paddy! I've got some studying to do.
I'll see what things look like next month.
It looks like If I had my choice I'd take a QuickSilver but they look scarce.
