\'Nuther ethernet question
« on: January 30, 2003, 10:20:00 AM »
Why does my TCP/IP control panel have "alternate ethernet" as a selection instead of ethernet. Where's the other one?

Apparently it's an option when you have something besides Built In Ethernet.

Do you?

I don't have that option in my machine.

Hmmm...I have an ethernet card installed in a PCI slot because the built-in ethernet does not function.  On my 7300 running 9.1 it shows up as ethernet slot b1.

"Alternate Ethernet" can appear as a choice if you have a Powerbook with an Ethernet PCMCIA card, or with a desktop system that has a "comm slot" Ethernet card or a multifunctionj PCI card.

Thanks tacit, kelly, and mayo. This is occurring on a PowerBook 1400 with a GV Platinum Pro PCMCIA card. So you guys hit the nail on the head.
