Hi,

Is there a way to mute or change the startup chord sound on os 9 ....? always forget to tun down volume and i'm afraid for my loudspeakers.....:-)

You could get an applescript to mute the volume at shutdown (put script in shutdown folder), then one to reset it in startup folder.

I used to have a folder of such scripts that set the sound at different levels but darned if I can't find them.

On the Hardware side. smile.gif

You can plug in a pair of Headphones.

This will override the Speakers.

Unplug them as needed. smile.gif

kelly, ya beat me to it! I do that as a "silencer" for when I want to compute while my lovely wife is trying to sleep.

adsr, use a pair of headphones that you wouldn't mind frying. wink.gif
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Cupertino can have better TV reception.
