Then there is the Tennessee State Representative He reported to the Tennessee Bureau if Investigation that he was being asked to pay $10,000 for picture of a young intern taken in the Rep's apartment. The pictures turned out to be in the possession of her boyfriend and were taken when the young "lady" was "visiting" the Rep. Why the poses were nude and provocative was not immediately
disrobed...I mean disclosed. Now this request for help resulted in the arrest of the boyfriend when he accepted the bait money in front of a few hidden detectives. All this occurred back in April.
Last week, the info somehow became public and the fact that this same representative claims to be pro-marriage/pro-family was also revealed. He also had a meeting with a Planned Parenthood official, the day before the text message, and told her that he could not support PP because he felt women should not partake in certain sexual activities before marriage.

An on the 'too-insane-to-be-funny" side of "politics," the Mayor of Memphis, re-elected more times than I can believe, announced last January that he would be resigning as Mayor to take over the City School System. Apparently, he discovered that they were still reeling from his past "leadership" of that organization, and decided to withdraw his letter of resignation. I didn't even know that was possible.
But he then decided to run against a new US Representative, he claimed that white man could not possibly represent the folks in that district. And I'd thought he had already played all his 'race cards!'
Despite the uproar and pleadings to leave the race baiting in the gutter, he pressed on and sent a new letter of resignation with the date, scribbled in over the whited out previous date, of July 10, 2009.
I guess the bright side is that he didn't waste more paper...
Unfortunately, his letter simply brought out a dozen or more people rushing to create an organization for the upcoming Special Election that will be required to replace the outgoing Mayor. Naturally, "the People" will get to pay the costs of this election process. Until that election the leader of the City Council announced the initiatives that he will see to completion while his 90 days of fame play out.
Now, hang on, I know this is getting complicated, but the best part is coming shortly!
With all the activity of the posturing candidates and the temporary soon-to-be-mayor distracting the spotlight, the 'officially-still-the-Mayor-around-here-I'll-have-you-know' announced that he had decided
not to leave on July 10, after all. But he promised, although not in writing, of course, that he would really, really leave at the end of July. The City Council, not to make too fine a point of it decided they would make an official statement that the Mayor's office would be considered empty as of August 1, whether there was any human in there or not. That nailed down the date of the Special Election, at least, 90 days after the office is empty.
The Mayor now makes the following comments, "I don't see what all the fuss is about! It's like a bunch of school kids arguing on the playground. I feel I've made this job look too easy. There are so many people who think they can do it." I suggest that he has made his terms such an embarrassment that people think
nobody could do any worse!
