Clicking on URL in mail will not open browser at the URL
« on: November 06, 2009, 01:57:26 AM »
I often get Eudora 6.2.4 mail with an URL  enclosed. Up until today, I could click or double click on the URL and the FireFox browser would open and show the site associated with that URL. Now, when I try to do so, FireFox 3.5.5 opens but to nothing! FireFox shows in the menu bar but I have to select Home to open my Home page. Then if I click on the URL in the mail nothing (nichts, rien, nada...) happens. This worked fine yesterday but now its gone.

I checked both Eudora and FireFox preferences but did not see anything that said  when you click on an URL embedded in an email, FireFox should open at that URL's web page. I tried to do this when Safari was open and again nothing happened.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? Maybe, I should run  Disk Warrior - It can't hurt!

home/Library/Preferences and delete the Eudora .plist files

the Hyperlink script in Eudora could be tweaked.

SB,

Mux to my surprise, I could not find a .plist file for Eudora! Ixearched the entire boot volume - no luck. I even searched on .plist and again no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Tom

Couldn't find com.qualcomm.eudora.plist in your Library->preferences file, Tom?

Thanks all. I finally solved the problem by using Disk warrior and that did the trick. Now selecting a URL in an e-mail immediately opens FireFox 3.5 to the correct site.

Paddy, searching vis spotlight did not yield the plist location using qualcom, eudora, plist, etc. Thanks to your hint I found the plist and trashed it. But, it did not help.

Thanks to all who responded.

I thought this System preference was set using Safari? Same as setting your preferred email app in Mail. dntknw.gif Isn't this similar to always installing Internet Exploder... nono.gif
