Snow Leopard curiosity - folders "deranged"!
« on: November 13, 2009, 11:26:46 AM »
In perhaps the only unexpected hiccup with my Snow Leopard (now in 10.6.2), I find that the Documents FOLDER that appears as a default in my Dock - when popping-up in Icon View - seems to have no discernible "order", certainly not alphabetical, ias it diplays my subfolders. What am I missing and how can one re-sort the items, so to speak. By clicking on the "arrow" in those pop-ups I then get a "proper" display, but I'd rather have the icon view work "right" in the first place.

In the Finder, it's all quite copacetic, thank you.

But, but, you can't hold the pop-up UP, to then navigate to the Arrange Menu for any choice, of change, whatsoever.

Again, the Documents Folder in the HD  is "properly" arranged alphabetically. The Documents Folder which pops-up from the Dock with a transient display only is a mish-mash.

What is there about this ukase from the Shores  Devilish2.gif  that I don't (yet) understand?

Hairline, indeed!

Found the solution to my own problem, stated herein.

Didn't realize that sorting-a-stack on any of several dimensions is accomplished by beginning w/CONTROL/CLICK, as opposed to trying to find an applicable Menu Bar command. Simple, but, of course, "It's a Macintosh!"

The pop-up was a leetle too transparent (even for my "new" eye) and I missed the Sort By subhead.

All better now!   rolleyes.gif

NO hairlines receding, retreating, decreasing or declining, hereabouts, I assure you – nor any re-seeding, either.

Unfortunately, no waistline receding, either.

Ah yes... I will concede to the mis-lettering and check for hairline fractures.  notworthy.gif

DANG!   I woke up at around 3:20 a.m. this morning and my brain's search engine told me that "Bob" was the wrong name!!!  Welcome to one of my many menopause moments!

Thanks for the correction!
