AW6 . . . Shared Library Error
« on: February 18, 2003, 12:06:00 PM »
As my spouse attempted to open AW6 on a G4 (Tower) running 10.2.3 - - and now 10.2.4 - - the following error message was received . . . repeatedly.

Application Launch Failure:

The application “AppleWorks” could not be launched because of a shared library error: “-<Appleworks><MW_MSL.PPC.Shlb><InterfaceLib><>”

Landau has nothing in the index of his Disaster Relief volume relating thereto . . . at least, that I can find.

So we reinstalled and updated AW6.

Now it opens, but some of the splash screens are partially (or totally) blank - - possibly an omen of bad things to come?

Any other suggestions?

Whatsa Shared Library Error?

A quick and dirty search revealed that MW_MSL.PPC.Shlb is a system 9 extension which may exist in your OS 9 Extension folder. It's not an Apple extension, and I can't find any trace of it anywhere on my machine...either in 9 or 10.

As to why it would interfear with AW running in OS X is a mistery to me, if in fact that is the problem.

Dick, Perhaps the Apple Works Users Group/Discussion Forum will have the answers you seek. http://www.awug.org/

A search of the Help Forum revealed a problem (and solution) that is most familiar (identical) to that you are experiencing. http://www.awug.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t...ight=shared+lib
