As reported on today's MFI, the problem (and fix) I noted (above) regarding installing an older version of the software (v2.1.1) on a separate Mac OS 9.2.2 drive is not uncommon. doh.gif

At least now I know it is not my machine...or operator error!

Thanks for your help. I ran DW a little while ago & all's right with the world again.

MamaMoose....I now understand what you meant when you say you quit DW  & it automatically restarted. Reading the instructions before running it made me think you shouldn't quit DW when finished, but that is actually the only option so all went well.

It did not seem to take me as long to run as it did you two & it repaired a bunch of stuff. I feel better & safer having DW back with me.

As a curious sidebar, I tried to boot up from my External drive which is running 10.2.3 & it would not. This is the first time I've tried to boot up in it since I went to 10.2.6 on my internal HD so don't know if that's the issue or not....or if it's the new iMac. My intention was to install & run DW from it. So I ended up starting up from the DW CD to be able to run it. It didn't take too long. I'll have to think about what to do with that ext drive. I sort of want to erase it & start over as one partition as I can't  boot up from the OS9 partition anymore from my iMac. If I do that, I can use CarbonCopyCloner, can't I? huh.gif

Hi daffy. smile.gif

So you have a brand new non-OS 9.x Boot imac?

Congratulations.

You'll need as new a OS X version to Boot as came with your machine.

Yes. You can clone your drive to the external that way. smile.gif

OK, Kelly. Thanks for the information. I sort of guessed that may be it.
This week-end, I'll erase the ext drive & reformat it & then use CCC.
This'll take time, I know.
How is it I used to have more time when I was still working?
The iMac is really beautiful. 17" screen & pretty fast. Now that even Eric's Ultimate Solitaire is on OS X, I never booted into 9 anymore so that's ok.   biggrin.gif

Greetings All!

I emailed DW yesterday asking them if it would work with older machines; i.e., PowerBook 190CS w/a 68040 processor, 40MB, 24MHz.  The Problem resulted when I had hooked the PB to my Beige G3 to cross over an application; i. e., a driver for my Agfa Scanner.  I went to the Mac site and inquired about the problem based on my situation and I was referred to the Disk Warrior site.

When I made the connection I saw twelve PB mounted HDs on my beige G3 desk top.  I successfully loaded the software to the G3, but @ the expense of my PB operating system.  Now all iget is the "?" floppy on my PB upon startup.

Disk Frisrt Aid won't fix the error code reads: "Problem: Invalid BTree node size 3,0" and "Disk Aid won't repair them"

Picked up DW off the shelf @ my local Mac store.  Took it home and my PB still has a "?" mark blinking.  Triple checked everything hooked to the PB and still nothing to it.  Waiting for the Al store to open to get some feed back.  Can't wait since the product has had a great write up, up & down the web.

Stay tuned! sleep1.gif

jguti,

What are your system specs? OS, Mac, RAM, hard drive size, etc. I believe DW 3 boots OS 9.2 or higher. have you tried DW 2?

mama,

the specs for the PB are 24MHz, 40Mb Ram, OS=8.1, 750 Mb HD

spoke w/AL they gave me instructions to create a boot up floppy disk at another machine and use the floppy to get the DW CD to mount up on the PB desk top

the file name being V 2.1.1 from the LS9 folder

can't wait to get home to try this!  thanx.gif

I received my DW 3 today, booted from it and tested my HD (it corrected a few icons. etc.) and then installed it on my hd.  Although it boots rather slowly. it seems fine.

I got my copy today. I ran it on my HDD but didn't install it.

It found a few problems and ran a lot faster than 2.1.1 from OS9.2.2 on the 10.2.6 HDD.

False Advertising and false promises!!! upset.gif

I thought I had posted my experience regarding DW but not sure where it went??? sad.gif

My experience w/DW was anything but productive.  I have documented proof what they had promised, both in personal notes and E-mail files.  Plus doing research up & down the web on this product; I am very disappointed with the results.  verysad.gif

I wouldn't recommend DW.  It did not live up to any of its expectations and written/imlpied promises/warranties!  All of my data is gone and they kindly recommended a data retrieval company to recover my data at a mere $1,600 (U.S.).  I don't think so. nono.gif   I am in the process of requesting a full refund, and if they refues I am entitled to three times the purchse price!
