I don't know which is worse; Steve's beard or the expression on the guy adjusting his tie, just to the left of Steve. laughhard.gif That guy probably works for Microsoft? Or maybe Verizon? wink.gif

I've never quite figured out why guys think the 5 days of beard look is attractive. rolleyes.gif It just looks...scruffy.

I totally agree, I try not to go out in public until after the sixth day. Thinking.gif And even then, I wear my best work overalls. yes.gif "You never get a second chance at a first impression." nono.gif

What do you think -- can an army of geeks change the entertainment industry? What should they do first?

How about write some DECENT movies? Filled with things like a decent plot, language that isn't in the gutter, not over powered with CGI, and then use actors that can act? Ah, for the good ol' days. wink.gif

BTW, I'm perverse I guess, but the first 4 paragraphs of Cringely's column are hysterical!

Who is "J Lo" and why is anyone (last commenter) concerned about Cringely's comments about her? dntknw.gif That commenter must be one of those humorless "geeks?" yes.gif

He is, of course, the world's largest holder of Disney stock, which accounts for nearly 80 percent of his $5 billion net worth. That came as a result of selling Pixar to Disney four years ago, after 20 years of helping those talented folk change how films are made.

Now i know who to blame 'not being able to watch it' on because i have cablevision!

Uhmn...you mean the Awards Ceremony? I think that involved an ABC TV and Cable Vision 'disagreement' in the NYC area. But only for those that didn't have another carrier or rabbit ears... You could have come down here and watched the whole thing, since we have one TV that wouldn't have had the "show" on. Is it true that Cable Vision was charging customers $18/month, just for ABC?! rolleyes.gif

No it's not true that they charge 18 bucks just for ABC...
Like they have many packages, they have one for $12 a month which will get you all the basic channels plus their exclusive news and traffic/weather channels, delivered through the cable network. People were criticizing this package and saying how they could charge for basic basic channels... well evidently cablevision has expenses to cover so if you want to be hooked up to their network you're going to have to pay for it!

Now in regards to ABC-- Cablevision pays them already $200 Million a year in rebroadcasting fees, and ABC wanted another $40 million because they claim that their network is worthy of it.

**To me, ABC has no value and is a dying network... Aside from Lost, which is in its final season, and Extreme Makeover Home Edition, their shows suck!  All of the good sports are now on CBS, NBC, and FOX like Football and Baseball, as well as all of the good series' like 24 and CSI.

They ended up putting ABC back on the network in the middle of the awards...
I couldn't care if they never put ABC back on the network laugh.gif

Never liked that stubble look either. And it sure isn't fun kissing someone with that sandpaper!  rolleyes.gif

Most likely the guy adjusting his tie is looking at the two women hugging.  wink.gif

One of whom is Steve's wife, Laurene Powell. Steve probably didn't get a kiss/hug because of his scratchy face! wink.gif

Yeah. It took me a while to even see that Steve was in that picture! rofl.gif

I once had three whole months off (while being paid, yet!) and decided to let my beard grow. Only thing I got out of it was my younger son calling me "fox face," because of the reddish color! laughhard.gif Now, being retired, I try to shave at least once a week... rolleyes.gif Most of the time I even use the razor! yes.gif

I suppose, like me, Steve has decided he has enough money that he need not keep on trying to "impress" anyone? In fact, we try to reign in our outstanding personalities and basic attractiveness! blush-anim-cl.gif It really gets tiresome dragging around millions of "followers." Groaner.gif
