My already dim screen is still too bright!!

On my third-generation 15" MacBook Pro,
when I lower my screen brightness to the minimum display brightness, the screen is still way too bright to be comfortable for viewing in a completely dark room.
Is there any way that I can make the screen even dimmer than the minimum setting?

All you need  is  "Blackout"

I use Shades (and please note the disclaimer at the bottom regarding color accuracy).

Hey Parker,
Great question! This has bothered me for a while since I got my new Mac.
It really is a bit too bright, and I cant dim it down like I can the older ones.
My solution so far is just have the screensaver come on quickly. As all the color settings are perfect for my PS work.
I havent dared use the third party stuff as yet, as I dont want to mess up my photo work.

I'm going to take Blackout for a spin and report back.

Jim, I posted this during Writing Composition class when the teacher shut off all of the lights so that we could watch some video clips using the projector...

My iBook screen at full brightness isn't near as bright as my MBP LED backlight at minimal brightness!!

Alrighty so Cheap Zach ended up going with Shades instead of Blackout. I like Shades better not only because it's free but because it integrates with the Preference Pane and is not a standalone application. It is also very easy to enable/disable and use!

<These> would look good on just about anyone, anywhere...especially if you watch a lot of "flash" content! Of course, since you are running Leopard, <these> would certainly be appropriate...
