A scanner, Bonjour and Win XP Pro....

OK, so I've got the PC to link through Bonjour to the Canon printer, which is USB-wired into the iMac G5. I have a scanner, also connected to the Mac. Is there any way Bonjour/PC can be made to 'see' the scanner so I can copy documents straight into the PC (XP Pro)?

Please don't ask why. It's just too long a story....  rolleyes.gif

I would assume that the PC must have the (Windows) scanner drivers installed? dntknw.gif

I'm surprised that the PC is Bonjour capable, even though that's not a proprietary method... rolleyes.gif Congratulations! And Good luck! notworthy.gif

Doesn't appear to be possible, Neil in most cases. Not the answer you were hoping for, I'm sure.

There are HP all-in-ones that have a built-in web server that allows printing and scanning from both Macs & PCs, but they're connected via ethernet.

I think you'll be limited to scanning on the Mac and then copying the image to the PC. Or physically disconnecting the scanner from the Mac and connecting it to the PC instead.

(I have an Epson scanner that has both FW and USB - wonder if in that case you could use USB on the PC and FW on the Mac and have both connected??)

Seriously, Ethernet is the way to go with mixed machine networks, in my humble opinion. I bought out Brother MFC specifically with that capability since it didn't like using Airport. But it is connected to the Airport router with that Ethernet cable and then shared with both Macs. I'm not sure there is an Apple wireless router (or any other brand) made with a USB connection in the manner I'm talking about. USB is pretty much a one-machine-to-the-peripheral(s) network. I don't think it was ever designed to connect anything to multiple computers. And, apparently, even Bonjour won't help, either. dntknw.gif Maybe Parallels would allow you to simply remove the PC? That would certainly cut down the networking hassles! clap.gif smile.gif
