This was an honor to the gentleman, but the pictures are just for publicity (for both groups, of course). What she's done in the last three years, however, is impressive to me, especially since I know where things were when she started her job. But she didn't do all the work, she selected some amazingly capable ladies dedicated to DAR and its mission.

It's just nice to be able to show my good selection skills... Groaner.gif

Ooops, Capt'n, you forgot to add . . . And she did all that reorganization on a Mac! Right?    salute.gif

I offer a bow and a kiss on the hand from Britain... even if she IS a Daughter of the Revolution biggrin.gif

Jim - can you offer a link to any reports on her work? There doesn't seem to be one from the pictures (or maybe it's just too early in the morning!).

Anyway, sincere congratulations. thumbup.gif

Very attractive young lady!  I'm guessing that she must be a member of the DAR?  My mother jumped through all of the hoops in the 1960's to get into the organization and then got mad at the lady in charge of the area we were living in.  If it isn't too political what do you think of the rumor that our president was going to be nominated for the DAR?

QUOTE
what do you think of the rumor
Too "political?" Probably, we'll see how long your post stays visible! tease.gif But, I assume you are speaking of the DAR Medal of Honor rather than an offer of membership. dntknw.gif I haven't heard of any plan, much less rumors of that sort. Judy has been very frustrated at some state members who don't seem to understand the extreme, politically neutral position DAR takes. 'Inserting' DAR into any political situation is strictly forbidden, but that is very difficult to police, as you can well imagine. wink.gif

As for the Medal, Mr. Adkins said he was surprised that there actually was a physical medal! He thought it was just an award and maybe a plaque! smile.gif Judy says he was extremely appreciative as well as being deserving. There were several Colonels/Generals/friends/supporters at the meeting (including the local US Congress[wo]man). All were enthusiastic about this gentleman's patriotism and service. Not a few tears were visible, in fact.

If you can't tell by now, I'm a big supporter of DAR, even though I can't be a member. There is, however, the SAR (for the Son's of the American Revolution). While the SAR is older, the DAR is many, many times larger. As a matter of fact, the DAR was formed because the SAR refused to create an organization for both men and women. So the women created their own group and haven't looked back...except to offer help in organization, recruitment, research guidance and maybe a little financial support to their 'superior' relatives. rofl.gif

There are 'conflicts' within any group, even one as small and friendly as TS. But that is one of the best things I think Judy did for the Tennessee group; avoid conflicts, encourage dialog and listening to others opinions and ideas. It resulted in some of the best membership gains in many, many years. And she's the first to admit that it was not just her work, she had and outstanding board of dedicated and very talented ladies that made her job much easier than she ever thought! thumbup.gif
