I was wary and did not put the newest update into my iPhone.
Same hear(!). Updating iTunes is not too big a deal if it doesn't work for a week or two until Apple gets a patch out. But I don't want to be without my phone for even an hour. eek2.gif In another month, I'll do a search for problems, and, probably not find but a few. Then I'll make the update. Of course, if I get word that another update is coming down the road, I may do the current one earlier. That's a big problem with many of Apple's apps, they don't usually keep any old versions around should you want to revert, they expect you to do that on your own (install DVDs, archives, zip files, rename a copy, etc.). That's particularly difficult on the iPhone (and I suspect, the iPad). We don't have convenient methods of retaining working versions prior to making updates, at least not as convenient as SuperDuper or CCC. OTOH, Apple has been extraordinarily good at creating non-destructive updates! clap.gif It's probably just my pilot experience that says, "Are you sure you can get out of the blind canyon you're about to enter?" eek2.gif Of course, a program crash, even if it has years of work in it, is not a life-threatening as the sudden stop against a canyon wall... oops.gif rofl.gif

I'm glad somebody noticed the photo. It was my main concern! Well that and a few snaps with my wife in Cornwall last year.

Well, I hope you're happy, hingy! I decided to finally update my 3G after reading that the battery use is slightly better with the new OS. Not a lot of other bells that I will use, however.

1. Sync with the desktop data, then a backup. Check.thumbup.gif
2. Accept the invitation to install the new OS. Check.thumbup.gif
3. Wait, watch the snail-paced "progress" bar, wait, wait some more. Go eat dinner. Thinking.gif
3.a. WHAT! The screen is now saying something about a backup of the data! I already did that! What will happen to my previous back up? (Like I don't know!)
3.2. Wait, wait, wait, "Look! The progress bar actually moved!" Go watch an hour of mindless TV.
3.III WHAT! Now the message is talking about restoring the OS! I thought I just installed the new one! What is there to "restore?!"
5. OK, now it's saying it is restoring my apps, music and misc info. Go take a sedative. rolleyes.gif
.
.
.
97. Several hours later, the iPhone disappears from iTunes, the iPhone screen still says it's being synced and it's time for bed!

What to do...Safest bet seems to be to Quit iTunes and restart it, leaving the iPhone connected. whew.gif The iPhone shows up! It stops saying it's syncing. The phone part works. wink.gif Looks like all my apps are there. So far, none have become inop. clap.gif

True to reports, the signal bars are now much fewer! laugh.gif

All's well that ends. Well? dntknw.gif laughhard.gif
