Need a knowledge upgrade and looking for opinions!
« on: October 17, 2010, 09:32:57 AM »
I've had "another" fantastic meeting with a Apple technical support person (lets call him Adam) in a meeting which was meant to assauge the fears of my fellow repair technicians and the networking team about the growing MAC presence in our work environment.  Obviously, I'm not "afraid" of the iPAD's and more iMAC's but really need to shore up my skills and capabilities with an infusion of a course or two (if economically feasible) or the correct books.  If any of you (Pendragon, Tacit, Paddy, and whoever else forgive me for not listing you if I didn't) have current favorites than please post here or email me if you want to!

Many Thanks!

BTW: Adam recommends the Peachpit series of books like this:

But I'm not sure that this will be enough I guess I'm looking for a course or two to polish up my old skills and give me new ones!

Would it be worth checking with Apple whether they run such courses? Surely, it would be in the company's interests to help people in your situation at a reasonable cost. That's "reasonable" from your perspective rather than theirs... biggrin.gif

And at least you'd be getting your knowledge from the horse's mouth smile.gif

Adam said the Peachpit courses and books are thought to be "the official" courses!  They outsource a lot of the "courses" that are more structured to other companies.  I was just looking for guidance from anyone who has done this "lately!"  I would guess maybe no one has!  I can get a "one time" discount from Peachpit for registering with their website before I order.
