Microsoft meets for "secret" talks with Adobe

Not exactly secret when the whole world knows about it soon after!

QUOTE
The meeting, which lasted more than an hour, covered a number of topics, but one of the main thrusts of the discussion was Apple and its control of the mobile phone market and how the two companies could team up in the battle against Apple. A possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft were among the options.

Please. NO. That's the last thing we need. dry.gif

"Talks Between Microsoft and Adobe Chiefs
By NICK BILTON
Microsoft's and Adobe's chief executives recently met to talk about the competitive threat from Apple."

"Adobe Shares Plunge As Microsoft Talk Fizzles -"

both are quotes,
can't remember how to put " around them

Somewhere I read that Apple is second only to the "big oil company".

Hmmmm

I actually heard that Apple might pass ExxonMobil in value soon - that would be a real accomplishment for Apple.

Microsoft acquiring Adobe would be an awful, awful thing to happen in the computer industry, to be blunt Microsoft simply don't "get it" when it comes to creative products, and even creative marketing for that matter.
They should stick to spreadsheets and word processors and concentrate on making Windows more usable!

They just aren't an innovative company in my eyes.. at least not to the extent of Apple, but I may of course be slightly biased... surely its true though.
I mean take a look at the iPod and the Zune... take a look at Windows mobile and the iPhone OS... take a look at Windows and OS X.... Apple is light years ahead in almost every area I can imagine.

The only thing Microsoft has going for it is money and vested interests, mostly in the business community.
Microsoft will NEVER be able to topple Apple in the creative industries..... UNLESS.... they swallow Adobe and decide to make their applications Windoze only. Then we might have a slight problem, but hardly the end of the world.

I do apologise if this post is very biased, but I like to defend my platform of choice from time to time :-)

You mean ^ ^ ^ this kind of 'quote?' ^ ^ ^

Just type {quote} at the beginning and {/quote} at the end. However, change the "{" and "}" to "[" and "]". Or, get a good text expander app and set up your own keystrokes. I type a period and tsq to get the two 'quote' tags and paste in what I want between them. After all, the electrical computer is the one that should help our biological computer, not the other way round! yes.gif clap.gif OTOH, you could go get a Windows machine... rofl.gif

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system

Don't apologize. smile.gif  We all know MS is not a leader in innovation, despite the assertion that they are.  They are playing catchup to Apple these days and the only way they will get close is if they buy up every company that competes with Apple.

You're right about Adobe, it would be a disaster if they killed PhotoShop and the graphics suite for Macs.  But that would probably incur the ire of the government unless Apple came through with an application of their own.  Actually that would be great because it would be less bloated and probably easier to use. Nonetheless, the graphics pros are wedded to Adobe for the most part and that would take a bite out of Apple's media base. Then again, one could always run Windows to use the Adobe products.  getsick.gif

Yes but even though you can run Windows on a Mac, it will probably see Mac sales fall, media professionals will be able to get equally powerful alternatives that will run their programs... if there is no Mac version what excuse would they have to buy a Mac when their companies can get them cheaper PC's whicih will run the same software...
