Too good to be true?
« on: January 20, 2011, 07:30:58 AM »
I saw this, its local, and there are a lot of people who wrote into the gal's blog saying it really works.
Im not interested, but I sure know people who are, and need it.
I know very little about such stuff, but perhaps somebody here would have an idea if such things are not scams.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Here's a red flag:  When I accessed that page and then tried to close it, a warning (Are You Sure You Want To Do This or something to that effect) popped up. It looks like the site wants to entrap you.

Personally, I would run, not walk away from this.

Thank you for analyzing it, I have never been interested in such stuff, but around here towards Hyannis, there are a lot of people who are out of jobs.
And looking for stuff to do and get paid, but this is probably just a trap. I saw that pop up too.

Here's another warning sign:  If the offer is so good, why isn't the owner of the site doing it himself rather than passing it on to others? Out of the goodness of his heart? I think not.

As far as I know, all of these things are pretty much bogus. YOU send them a big whack of money and then they send you some stupid kit of info that tells you stuff you could find anywhere on the internet for free.

Red Flag number 2 or 3 or 4...site was only registered at the end of November and it's only got a ONE YEAR registration. Can you say fly-by-night?

Not a good sign: http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/ehomeprofitkit.com

And a bit about "Jason Hall" and get-rich-quick schemes in general:

http://www.thatsnonsense.com/view.php?id=1106

BTW - apparently it costs $97 - "reduced from $197 for a limited time" - HELLO...another red flag. "Buy it now - it's CHEAPER if you act now (without thinking)!!"

And, the really big red flag...the fine print at the bottom of the page (my comments are in bold):
QUOTE
*Less than 1% of members applying these principals achieve an annual salary greater than $50,000.
That less than 1% would be the one entity, Mr. Jason Hall or...I'm sorry...did they forget to change the name in the fine print from "Paul Johnson"??? See below. rofl.gif

Who the *&^#@ is Paul Johnson? Oh...right, forgot to change this fine print to reflect the new and improved version of the former, er, "business" by the name of "Profit System Online"  - who have been picked apart in wonderful blog postings in great and entertaining detail - a highly recommended read.

No, I'm sure they DON'T have anyone's permission, they just "borrowed" these logos until such time as the lawyers notice. Wonder how much time the legal dept. of Forbes et al spend chasing down these scammers?

RUN, do not walk away. Never buy into any of these get-rich-quick schemes. The only person who gets rich quick is the person selling you the get-rich-quick scheme. dry.gif

Thank you for the analysis of this thing!  I never have even looked at one before, and having you all explain it well, is very interesting.
It's great that you were able to look it up and find out all the false stuff about it.
WOT is great!
Great links,
Jane

I had never seen stuff like this, and Im glad I ran it by you all here.
I was astonished that it would have come up on the Earthlink web page making site that I though I would try out, after I had signed in!
I realize now it was just a quick paid ad, and its something I had never learned about.
See how valuable TS is to me!
Thanks,
Jane

The owner of the site IS doing it himself.

If you sign up for this "opportunity," you get a kit of instructions that say "Set up a Web site offering to sell a great work-at-home opportunity, then start spamming your Web site..."

Oldest scam in the book.
