4. I don't understand why you could not download to any drive with enough space. Does the download only allow saving to a drive capable of having Lion installed on it? That's not logical, to me.
5. I don't think the OS is set up to resume downloading at any point, I have only seen that in FTP apps and something like Speed Download.
6. Bring you Mac over hear and I'll let you use my Internet connection. Unfortunately, we don't have any available bedrooms...but there is lots of room in the backyard for a tent!
Do you have a laptop? Perhaps you could buy a couple of hours time at a local Internet café? It's a hard realization that His Steveness did not intend for Lion to be used outside large, urban, broadband-enabled areas of the Northern Hemisphere...
