Mac App Store
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:13:00 AM »
Uncle !!

How do I download Apps from the Mac App Store ????

When I try to "View in Mac App Store", I can't find a download link. Only a "Free" thingy that switches to "Install App" when I click on it, but does nothing else.

So, how do I go about it?

 sos.gif  Please.

PPMS = "Please Pardon My Stupidity"

Edited to add:

When I finally get into the App store, it requests that I log in, but when I click on the "Sign in" button, nuttin' happens.

Zilch, NADA, etc.

First, be aware that the response of the app is less than stellar, depending on what it is trying to do.

You might try:
    1. Moving the Mac App Store plist.
    B. Log in to another account.
III. Can you get it to show any previously purchased apps (assuming you have any)? There's a link/icon at the top of the window.
    d. Re-install the app (you can download it from the App Store. eek2.gif wacko.gif)
Of course, when you do 'install' something, there is not much of any feedback. It simply creates an animation that shows something being placed on your Dock. If it requires purchasing, you'll have to log in first, I think.

OK, I finally found something both free and possibly worth downloading. rolleyes.gif
    1. The "Free" button is supposed to change to "Install." You don't ever see a "download" button as in most other app sites.
    2. Even if the app is free, you will get a request for your password and a verification, assuming you have not already logged in.
    3. And you will then be asked for your regular payment info, even though it may be a free app.
    4. When all the above is completed, you should see a 'gear' revolving in the title bar area, your Dock will appear (if hidden), the app's icon will appear in the Dock and you will be dumped into Launch Bar (if running Lion). There you will see the app's icon and a progress bar showing..the progress of the download. Getting out of Launch Bar is an exercise for the reader. I simply screamed and beat on the Mac which seemed to work could be a little disturbing to small children.

You might try:
    1. Moving the Mac App Store plist.  DID THAT _ No Change
    B. Log in to another account. DON'T HAVE App on secondary account
III. Can you get it to show any previously purchased apps (assuming you have any)? There's a link/icon at the top of the window. NO PREVIOUS PURCHASED items
    d. Re-install the app (you can download it from the App Store. eek2.gif wacko.gif) CAN'T LOG ON TO APP STORE, so this doesn't work.

I even dis-allowed Little Snitch to no avail.

BUMMER!!!!!

Thanks for the hints anyway.

Edited @3:45PM to add:

Had to go into Little Snitch:General:Network Filter --> OFF
In addition to: Little Snitch:Monitor:Network Monior --> OFF

All that finally got me in.

Thanks

I haven't used that app for many months, always seemed to cause more frustration than help. I'm just not 'geeky' enough to know how to use Lil' Snitch for its intended use. dntknw.gif However, does it not have some kind of 'whitelist' to which the App Store could be added? dntknw.gif

BTW, did you 'edit' my comments?! I didn't think I had "NO SUCH LUCK" in my original... laughhard.gif
