I can't answer your question but I can tell you that, despite Lion, the plural of "mouse" is still "mice". This means, of course, that the plural of "house" is "hice", and the plural of "spouse" is "spice".  toothgrin.gif

Lion couldn't care less about your use of a mouse; just like all previous versions of all Apple computer OSs. It just allows the use of track pads, if you have one. I just got a new iMac this week and I have been using the mouse less and less each day; I haven't used it at all today! It's really nice to simply use a two-finger spread to make the text/graphics bigger in a browser instead of hitting command "+" or "-"! I do find it difficult to drag an object across the screen before running out of pad, however! But I haven't bothered to see if there is a setting in the pref panel concerning this or not. I have been pleasantly surprised and very satisfied with the Magic Pad. (I originally 'ordered' the MP as a replacement for the Magic Mouse [equal price swap], but my 'buyer' sent both. I still prefer the 'old' mouse [tiny scroll ball type] to the MM.)

Next time you need a new mouse, I'd recommend buying a Magic Track Pad, instead. wink.gif

There are days that my Logitech mouse bothers my fingers, and the Magic TrackPad looks cool, but a bit pricey just to "try" and see.

I don't think it would be hard to sell on eBay. dntknw.gif And some people might want one on each side of their keyboard... rolleyes.gif

And the plural of lice is lice.

I love my Logitech mouse.

I was thinking about it and since Apple hasn't been able to successfully design a mouse that works well, whether it be magic or not, I figure they went to a track pad. If I wanted a track pad I'd buy a notebook.

My previous sentiments, exactly. I/we always have a mouse conected to my wife's MBP. But the Magic Pad is considerably larger than any laptop pad and it need not sit in front of the keyboard where I was constantly touching it. I have mine where I used to have my mouse pad and it's out of my way.

I still don't care much for the 'magic' mouse, it's too small for my hand and many of the swipe movements. I stillmlike the iffy bitty scroll ball Apple mouse but it's not yet been connected to the new iMac! smile.gif I'll just suggest you give the Pad a try next time you visit an Apple Store...(I do not own any Apple stock, nor have I been remunerated by the company for this recommendation) laughhard.gif

Re: the mouses vs mice debate (yes, it appears there is one):

QUOTE
The online Oxford Dictionaries entry for mouse states the plural for the small rodent is mice, while the plural for the small computer connected device is either mice or mouses. However, in the usage section of the entry it states that the more common plural is mice, and the first recorded use of the term in the plural (1984) is mice as well.[2] The fourth edition of The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language endorses both computer mice and computer mouses as correct plural forms for computer mouse. Some authors of technical documents may prefer either mouse devices or the more generic pointing devices. The plural mouses treats mouse as a "headless noun".

Virii, anyone? No thanks, I have enough viruses. And none of them have heads? eek2.gif scram.gif

While a mouse can be "headless," they certainly have tails, often in the shape of an "Se"! In which case, one wouldn't want to add an "es" to them?

I didn't want to confuse the issue so I used mouses instead of mice.

As in, Question- "How do mouses work with Lion?"

Answer----------with their paws or claws or feet. wink.gif

When I first started using a Mac in 1995, my finger working the mouse began to hurt after a few months. As a designer using Photoshop, InDesign, Freehand, etc, I scroll a LOT working different palettes or drawing logo shapes. The last thing I wanted was some type of "work place" disability. I finally went to an Orbit trackball. I'm on my second one now. It's perfect... can scroll quickly, fingers don't hurt, saves desk space, etc. Even my wife switched to one.
I use the pad with my fingers on my iBook when I'm out of town, but it doesn't come close.

So, I'm not using Lion yet, but I hope trackballs are here to stay for designers... until some retinal focused laser guided scrolling system gets implanted in my head!!

If it worked with Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard it should work with Lion. Most mice don't need/use additional drivers with OS X, either.

I gave my Magic Mouse to my grand-daughter because I didn't intend to buy it to begin with and it is too small for my hand, anyway. My wife tried it for less than a day and asked for her 'old' scroll-ball Apple mouse back for her MBP (neither of us like laptop trackpads).

I started and continue to use the Magic Pad that I ordered with my new iMac. Felt completely natural right from the start. But it is not as accurate as a mouse, at least with my fat fingers, so I have my re-built/second-hand Mighty Mouse and its tiny scroll-ball connected to the wired keyboard for critical cursor positioning (pixel placement in graphics apps, for example). I think it helped that I had practice using finger gestures on the iPhone for several years, but I still don't use all the capabilities of the rack pad. And I also find that I run out of room (my finger(s) fall off the pad!) because I still don't have the inertia settings just right). laughhard.gif

I think as long as people buy mice/track balls/etc. they will continue to be made, whether Apple sells them or not. wink.gif
