Sometimes i'm thinking to get a webcam, but i probably won't.
I'm sticking to the "conventional" iChat here.

iSight is cool, no doubt, but 169 Euros aren't.

I don't need a webcam. And I am not going to spend 169 € on a toy.

Besides, I think iChat should definitely support ICQ. I am neither registered at .mac not at AIM and am not keen to do so.

The only reason I can see to use a webcam is to show what it looks like "out the window".  biggrin.gif Then that would get boring after awhile.

The expense is way out of reach for me too.

I'm just trying to get an idea of who would get iChat AV and use it. The only use for it that I read on another message board the guys were talking about setting up a "dating service".  laugh.gif

Yeah, that's a good one!

I forget that a lot of families have movie cams. The iSight may come down in price someday as well.

Yep, grand kids, friends that live far away, etc. I used ISPQ a few times a week talking to friends, but iChatAV blows that away. Using iChatAV is like talking to someone in the next room. Unbelievable audio and video quality. iSight isn't needed, any firewwire webcam will work, or video camera.

I downloaded iChatAV and connected my Sony DV camcorder...but I didn't chat with anyone, so I don't know how well it'll work on my old 350Mhz G4. I won't be spending money on iSight, but it's a very nice web cam for those who don't have one or a DV camcorder.

I have it, but being on dialup there is no video option.  I have tried several times to make audio contact with others with negative results.  I usually get a blurb stating "so&so failed to respond".  That is with both ends trying and getting the same results.  I connect at 46.6 Kps.
I think AV is still bug ware.
