And as a corporate strategy, it's certainly paying off - the sales of Macs are steadily increasing too. wink.gif

You see them absolutely EVERYWHERE now - I swear, 90% of TV show computers are Macs now. I had to laugh - a local decorating/home etc. show here, which I watched for the first time the other day because a friend's sis was on it had a guest on who was showing web sites on her MacBook Pro. But I guess they have rules against showing obvious product logos if the company hasn't paid for product placement or something, because her Apple logo had a big silver WWW sticker over it. Either that, or she just didn't want to advertise in general that she was using a Mac.

Airport lounges are full of them - and half the presenters who we have at our women's group now seem to have them. My son says most of the students at Guelph University have Macs and they were certainly pretty prevalent when he was at Lakehead U. too. Three of his four closest friends from high school have them too.

My eldest son got one when he went off to Miami (of OHIO) University, in 1991. I got my first one shortly thereafter. When I went back to school a few years ago, there were two classrooms with nothing but Macs, and a third one was over half Macs. They finally completed the Macs in that third classroom by the end of my first year.

I would say a little over ¼ of the students had their own Macs. I must caveat this by saying that the Section (Graphic/Web Design) I was in only had 4 classrooms, which were off the main campus. The main campus had thousands of Macs. By the time I graduated last year ¾ of the student body had their own Macs. thumbup.gif

A local community college used to have Macs in its graphics department. But, about ten years ago, they switched to PCs. Cheaper (to buy).

I hate to admit it, but my own, sweet 15, living-with-us, Grand-daughter recently bought a Wintel laptop! eek2.gif She wanted to have a machine that could play an on-line game with her boy friend. She asked his dad (who works in some IT shop) for advice on which machine to get. Surprise, surprise, he told her to order a PC from NewEgg. At least she found one a little cheaper than the one she had originally planned on.

Of course, she never asked me about running Parallels or Fusion. I would have recommended Boot Camp, anyway. At least to see if the older iMac could handle the needed speed. But the cost of the OS might not have been much less than the cost of the hardware! eek2.gif

I haven't had the heart to even tell her about Boot Camp (matter of fact, I've been told not to mention the subject!). She spent her own money; did her own "research." I just hope her boy friend's dad can do all or any recovery work. I made sure her mother and sister told her to get and use AV software, but I have no idea what she's done. I'm supposed to just be her grand dad, sometimes I have trouble remembering that. wallbash.gif laughhard.gif

laughhard.gif   Never been a problem with these two jewels! They are very independent (obviously!) but a joy to be around! The older one works, part-time and also baby sits (do you have any idea what that pays!? eek2.gif ). The younger one mostly just saves her money from Christmas/Birthday/etc. My only problem with these three ladies is that, counting my wife, we have four women (all with great cooking skills) in the house and, yet, the only way I can get a warm meal is to use the micro-wave!!! rant.gif rolleyes.gif

And now, back to the thread, already in progress...
