US Coast Guard Cutter Fir
« on: May 11, 2012, 10:07:38 PM »
Spotted this beauty this past Wednesday and I had to grab a photo, so we "borrowed" someone's driveway. I got a few photos before anyone spotted me (yes, they were home). Anyhow this is the US Coast Guard Cutter Fir, based in Astoria, Oregon. Her nickname is "The Bar Tender", and her motto is: No Bar Too Tough, Too Rough, Too Far. If interested, you can read more about her here. USCGC Fir was down in Yaquina Bay doing some work with NOAA on buoy's.

There are 2 shots. I like the first because of the wake. I like the second because I got a slightly better placement. I also took both shots into PS and applied Topaz filters to them. Info in the comments with the photos.

The blue topaz obviously helps the sky and even the greenery, but it changes the shaded white on the starboard side of the ship too much toward blue. I assume you can apply the filter to a single layer? Maybe the easiest way would be to make a layer with mainly the white parts of the ship and put it above the topaz filtered layer?

I will say you show great promise! (no charge, BTW) Groaner.gif
