Checked that/those also,
Harv. No apparent problems there. Also re-repaired permissions,
Bruce.
I decided not to fight it anymore . . . especially after receiving additional "error" numbers, e.g. 1000, from further attempts simply to open the "old" Mozilla, soooo I stashed it in an Archive Folder, on another partition, and downloaded 1.4.
It then, naturally, installed smoothly and completely.
Attempting to pick-up bookmarks, addresses and mail, however, from the 1.3 archived folder was not successful. So I went to my parallel copy of NS 7.0.2 which seems to maintain everything up-to-date (
how do they do that?) and so it appears all is safe and secure for and in the new Mozilla. .
"How", I'm not sure; "why" is even more mysterious.
If it's true that the "new" NS has the old Mozilla's Junk Mail controls, I'm going to go get it also. Might as well keep up with progress.
FWIW, when trying to figgerout "Permissions" I, quite naturally, consulted David Pogue's
Mising Manual for OS X (2d Ed) only to find this wonderfully characteristic Pogueism . . .

But wait. Just when you thought this permissions business might be easy enough for you to grasp without that llong-postponed PhD in astrophysics, it gets more complicated . . .( p.368)
