Remember that I was in a 'day-room' at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. when "The Eagle" landed, Just freshly arrived from Fort Dix, NJ.

One of the great ones.

Rest In Peace Neil Armstrong.

You are one of the truly greats.

I liked the family quote in the article referenced by Jim:

"Armstrong's family has released a statement, saying he died following cardiovascular procedures. NASA published it here. They say "Neil Armstrong was also a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job".

"They had this request: "Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink". "

I just went out and winked at the moon and wished Neil to RIP.
It is a gorgeous night here in Akron and the moon is bright and was smiling down on me.
I think he winked back at me and the many other people that winked at him.

I was in Ubon, Thailand (during the Vietnam War), when he landed on the moon. I'll never forget that moment. RIP Neil!

I went and took a pic of the moon and told Neil, "Good night." Sad day.
