This post has reminded me that I'm probably one or two versions behind as I try to update whenever I start getting newer versions of OS to deal with. It's kind of a pain to have to wait for the disks; no one anywhere around me stocks much Mac software. I also wait to see if the utility works with the newer versions. I own one that does work with 10.6 but I agree you should go ahead and buy it from the company that writes it!

To install, you must be started from Mac OS X 10.3.9 through 10.8 with at least 512 MB RAM. More RAM may be required for large directories. DiskWarrior 4 version 4.4 is completely compatible with Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Alsoft recommends that you don't run DiskWarrior 4 version 4.0 while started from Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. Alsoft also recommends that you don't run DiskWarrior 4 version 4.1 while started from 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion. Instead, you should download the free DiskWarrior 4 version 4.4 Disc Update. This free updater allows you to create a new startup disc containing DiskWarrior 4 version 4.4.
