Eudora Attachments Folder??
« on: July 12, 2003, 08:37:02 PM »
Finally made the plunge and booted up in OSX and updated to Jaguar and then 10.2.6. Ordered a new G5 so I figured I'd better learn fast! The first thing I did was to update Eudora to the OSX version.  When I then tried to bring up Eudora, it told me it cold not find the attachments folder and asked for permission to use one in the Eudora folder.  For the time being, I clicked no .  After playing for a while, decided to reboot in 9 where I have a tremendous sense of comfort!  Went to bring Eudora up and got the same message. Finally found the folder in the system folder, Eudora folder, so I went into Eudora again and this time  followed the path to the folder in the system folder. Question is, what do I do about Eudora operating in Jaguar?  Do I want to access an attachments folder which is in my OS9 system folder?  I'm very new to this, and so far, it's driving me nuts!  After someone answers this, will someone also tell me how to change my fonts, my alert sounds, etc?  I'm used to having all this in my system folder and there's NOTHING like it in Jaguar! upset.gif

Look inside system preference > sound and speech to change alerts and sound.

That I know - but how do I add new ones?  In the past, up to and through 9.2.2, I was able to add all kinds of sounds from my Clixsounds CD - but I believe that the format of those sounds differs from those in OSX and can't be used with it.

Sorry bout that dakota.
Well on 'adding' new sounds.
I added a few quite a while ago. So bear with me.

First off.!.
Once you've either created a sound or whatever .. it needs to be converted to ( .aiff ) format.
Can't recall off hand how or which program I used to do this.
Fact whether I did in 9 or X even.
Quicktime or soundamp [in 9] maybe?
At any rate I'll leave that up to you on the how.

Once you have the sound file - System>Library>place it in the Sound folder.
Take a "look" inside that 'sound folder' first just to check the suffix though.!.
