AeroVelo wins the Sikorsky Prize!
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:31:31 PM »
Looking like a hugely overgrown balsa wood model the AeroVelo Atlas has won the quarter million dollar Sikorsky prize.  Here is the video at Youtube:

and here's a brief article:

I think this would be great exercise but will not catch on!

Woo hoo - Go U of T Engineering! biggrin.gif (Most of the team is from University of Toronto) http://www.aerovelo.com/projects/helicopter/helicopterteam/

(We have more than a passing interest in U of T engineers in this household - my dad is one, and I'm married to one - and went to U of T myself) wink.gif

I think it's pretty impressive and it's almost like something Da Vinci could have thought of but it took hundreds of years for the technology to allow it to happen!
