Apple shouldn't have fought this, not once the "big 5" lost. In the end, it's still the consumer that looses. wink.gif

"Three weeks after Apple was declared responsible for leading a conspiracy to raise e-book prices, the Department of Justice (DOJ) today submitted a proposed remedy to prevent the company from fixing prices and discriminating against competitors such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble..." <ars-technica article by Jon Brodkin>

Apparently no monetary fine for Apple, but two-years of allowing no-fee in-app purchases for other vendors may be nice for those wanting ebooks from B&N/Amazon/etc. wink.gif New job must be created at Apple, also: "full-time, internal antitrust compliance officer" Update your resumé! wink.gif

Well, they were crazy to fight this in the first place - the remedy is going to cost them a boatload more than settling out of court would have, methinks.
