Uhmn... yeah, I have maybe a dozen apps disabled via iTunes. And if you're afraid you might need something that you've disabled, you can always just pile/file stuff into a folder and they're still available with an extra touch. I don't think his problem is any 'smart phone' or app, he just needs more intelligent choices of what he installs and why. After all, it's your phone, use it like

I don't understand why he buys a super-capable phone and then strips it of all the stuff it could have done. Save your money and buy an old-style 'flip phone' from K-mart!
I wonder if he uses the individual drive selections on his automatic shifting car? Wonder if he has a microwave... Air conditioning? Credit card?
