Powerfull USB card...
« on: December 28, 2013, 10:21:51 AM »
Hi,

Testing  internal usb card whith my "new" Quicksilver  smile.gif ...plug in a mouse directly to a slot works but it seems there's not enough power to make the keyboard working...(both works ok on the two originals usb  slots)

Could you recommanded me a good (at least 4 usb) card ?

Thanks

I have the distinct impression I've answered this question before - the Sonnet Allegro is one of the few remaining USB 2.0 PCI cards around:

http://www.amazon.com/Sonnet-Allegro-USB2-...USB+2.0+allegro

Ruddy expensive in France: http://www.amazon.fr/Sonnet-Allegro-USB2-N...USB+2.0+allegro

Cheaper in the UK, but not sure about the shipping etc.: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonnet-Allegro-USB...USB+2.0+allegro

However, like all USB cards, it may have deep sleep issues if you're running anything prior to 10.5.2. (I assume the solution there is never allow the Mac to sleep...)

What card do you have now and what OS are you running?

I'm running OS 9.2

Don't know for the usb card...a little one Taiwan made

Thought that every USB  card had the same power handling...?

What about the internal usb port on theses cards, what is it for ? ....is it possible to plug an USB drive..?

What do you think of that one?

Yes - that card should work fine.

As for the internal USB port, there are a number of possible uses, though most people don't use them: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...19075857AA4XgE4

Just received and install the card in the quicksilver ( OS 9.2)

What i try to do is to have two keyboards and two mouses on the same computer ( not at the same place :-)

Plug in the second keyboard to the card  don't work (the kbd is working on the internal usb) , plug in the mouse (light on) but not working too   Thinking.gif

Maybe it's not possible..? is there something to do?

Thanks
